Being the youngest sibling and arriving as a bit of surprise to my older parents; my sister, Shirley, really helped to raise me. I was told that she had "diaper duty" frequently and delighted in tossing my dirty diapers out of the car window on a long road trip to Florida.
She thoroughly enjoyed visiting Cathy and me and the girls in San Diego; and fulfilled her favorite past-time, shopping, at one of our biggest malls. In fact, she and Leslie bought so much that they had to buy more suitcases to carry the items back to Virginia!
When our family moved back to the East Coast, Shirley was the first to visit and help move some items into our new home in Frederick. She was so excited and involved in helping that she ended up breaking her ankle in the process. I remember feeling terrible about this but she kept on helping without complaining until we finally forced her to stop.
We always enjoyed the family shish-kabob barbeques at Shirley's house and attempted to duplicate her delicious recipe without success. I guess the love she added made all the difference.
Shirley's continual kindness, love and contagious laughter are among some of my fondest memories. I will certainly miss that, but am happy that she is now in a better place and free of pain and suffering.
Rest in peace and happiness my dear sister. Love, Lee

Mom, Not only were you my role model, my adviser, and my confidante, you were my best friend. I have been blessed with many loving relationships in my life but the bond that we shared was like no other. Your unconditional love and support was unwavering and a constant in my life up until your final days. Even though your memories had faded and the words did not come easily, I always felt your devotion to me. While you may not be here physically, you will be with me for always.

Mom, I can't even begin to express the loss we've had in your passing. You were very sick for several years, but we'll always remember you with your beautiful blue eyes, your quickness to smile, your hysterical laugh which was contagious just hearing it, your sassy personality (wonder where I got mine, huh???)and your devotion, dedication and commitment to all of those around you. Our loss is so great that it hurts beyond measure, but just to know that you will no longer have to suffer and struggle with your myriad health issues, and that you are at peace now and with Daddy in Heaven is such a blessing and brings us comfort. We will always love and honor you. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."
