Obituary of Debra Leabhart Trask

Born in Iowa City, Iowa on August 15, 1955; Debbie was the devoted wife of Tommy J. Trask for almost 30 years. She was the oldest of five children born to Dr. John Leabhart and his wife Joan. Debbie grew up in Alexandria, VA where she graduated from TC Williams High School. She already had Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy when she was also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 20 years ago. For many years she worked with Tom as Office Manager and as such gained many friends with her pleasant greeting and friendly conversation. Finally unable to work, Debbie resided in their home at Lansdowne, VA. until her combination of chronic diseases finally triggered a stroke and pulmonary embolism. She died peacefully on July 18, 2012 in the Inova Loudoun ICU center. Debbie's 22 year old niece Kelly was diagnosed prenatally with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy and Debbie's wish was to help fund a special needs trust to aid Kelly's quality of life as her illness progresses.
