Obituary of Lawrence Gregory Culhane

Longtime Northern Virginia resident, Lawrence Gregory Culhane, 75, passed away on August 11 at Heritage Hall in Leesburg, VA after a long illness. He was born in Rochester, NY on September 4, 1936 and was the son of the late Joseph L. Culhane and Eileen Dengler Culhane. He was a high school graduate of Aquinas Institute in Rochester. He received a BSEE from the University of Detroit, MI and an MSEE from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
Larry is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn L. Culhane; daughter Gail C. Hogan and her husband Mark of Fairfax Station, VA; son Michael S. Culhane and his wife Margot of Ashburn, VA; stepson Shawn D. Moore of Idaho; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Kevin Hogan, Michael and Mallory Culhane, and step-grandchildren, Bonnie and Canin Moore; four sisters, Eileen E. Lowe of Orlando, FL, Linda A. Flood (Len) of Annapolis, MD, Mary T. Culhane of Pembroke Pines, FL, and Kathleen M. Mancino (Joe) of Columbia, MD. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph P. Culhane, of Miami, FL. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Larry was employed by The MITRE Corporation in Bedford, MA, Atlantic City, NJ, and McLean, VA, for almost his entire career in air traffic control systems engineering. He was also actively involved with the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) in Arlington, VA for many years.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Adams Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA 20170. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 15 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 46833 Harry Byrd Highway, Sterling, VA 20164. Interment to follow at Sterling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Hall Health Facility, 122 Morven Park Road, NW, Leesburg, VA 20176.
