It has been a great privilege to know Wale and his family. Wale was a very good friend of my late husband – Emeka Nwosu. After Emeka’s tragic death, Wale took genuine interest in my 3 children providing them guidance and encouragement especially in their academics. Wale was a very special person, very kind, very caring, very generous, full of optimism and positive energy. Wale was simply put an incredible human being with incredible strength and exceptional personality, always looking to give a helping hand to others and putting other people’s problems before his own. Wale, you were a great uncle to my daughter Chinwe. Chinwe has a special place for you in her heart. You took good care of Chinwe all through her battle with brain tumor till her very last day on this earth while facing your own life struggles which you pretty much kept to yourself until the last few months of your life. Carolyn and your two beautiful daughters –Laide and Abby, please take comfort in the legacy exceptional dad left behind. Wale touched many lives including my children especially his dear Chinwe. May the Lord grant you all the strength to continue coping with your new normal life without Wale. Edith Nwosu

I knew and worked with Wally for many years while he was employed at Fairfax County. Many of our staff knew and worked with him as well. We were all impressed with his knowledge and the way he gracefully shared his thoughts. He was well respected and admired and will be missed. He and I recently shared our professional opinions regarding a serious matter faced by the County. That issue was successfully resolved. Thank you Wally. You will be remembered.

It was my pleasure to work with Wally from his earliest days at Fairfax County. A more pleasant individual I have never met. Despite my knowledge os Wally's illness it is difficult to believe he is not with us and I will have to be content with the memories: his smile, his outlook, his attitude. Wally's absence will be enormous.

It has been my honor to work with and befriend Wale. His testimony has been inspiring. Often in life when we leave this world we leave behind bags full of momentos and trinkets for those behind us to treasure; instead Wale has left us a legacy of faith, endurance, strength, and beauty. His walk with Christ in spite of his circumstances always inspires all those around him and we are uniquely privledged to have known such an gentle and loving soul. My deepest sorrow for his family and close friends, their grief is certainly overwhelming--but may they be comforted in believing always without doubt, that today Wale walks with Christ in the beauty and radiance of the Father, without sadness, without pain, and completely expectant for his beautiful reunion with those he loved. God Bless you my friend Wale, and thank you for praying for me!!

Wale was a light unto this world. He lived his faith through his words, actions and deeds. He always thought of others first and had a blessed and joyful outlook on life no matter what the challenges he faced. I feel so blessed to have been a coworker and friend and to know that I was able to give back to him in a small way on June 23 when we ran the Tim Harmon race for him. He was an incredible person and I know that God has wonderful things in store for him.

It is very hard to write this.... Even though I knew of Wally’s condition for some time, I’m still in denial of his passing….When I first met Wally in the mid-1990s as a young consulting engineer, what impressed me most about him was his willingness to help fairly, his easy going attitude, and having a positive attitude even when the chips were down…. In early 2009, I had the privilege of joining Fairfax County and having Wally’s old office. Despite his numerous commitments, from that of his personal health to that of his family, Wally still took time to give several important advices as I started my public service including how the job related to life, safety and health. I will never be able to replace his chair and “shoes”…. I will miss Wally tremendously. I will miss our technical debates, our lunches, our personal conversations about life and the world, etc. but most importantly I will miss your support, friendship and your big smile. My sincere condolences to his beloved Carolyn, his children, Laide and Biola, and the rest of his family.

Uncle Olawale, I meet you only once, but it was a memorable one, I can't forget the experience, and can still remember your words to me and my wife. Paul the Apostle, summarizes it this way:"for me to live its Christ, but to die is gain.." when a business man goes to the market and makes gain, he is more than excited, and happy...I believe, though we miss you, we believe its going to be a season of glory for you up there, as the angels of God welcomes a warrior coming home...Jesus is Lord!!!

I had the privledge of working with Wale from 1995 to 2000 as part of the Special Projects team with DEM. Wale was always energetic, took his work seriously but always had a smile on his face. I moved on to another agency and saw Wale again about 2 years ago in which he spoke of his family, especially his youngest daughter. I had a lot in common with her and I spoke openly to Wale about it. He was a huge supporter of many charities, the world has lost one of the good guys. Wale's attitude and spirit are an inspiration for all. I will miss him, but I know he is stepping into a beautiful eternity. I feel lucky to have known him.

I am saddened by Walle’s passing. I met Walle’ in summer of 1986 when he was just starting his journey at Fairfax County as a young and talented engineer. Over the years I became very impressed by Walle’s kindness and professionalism. I worked with him on the GRB. He was fair with everyone and treated all equally; with dignity and respect. Walle’ was a thinker- a true technocrat. He loved research papers; data; and reasons behind the theories. He was also a great father: his eyes would light up when he spoke of his two beautiful daughters. To his family I offer my heartfelt prayers and condolences. He is with God and will always be in my best memories.
