Obituary of John James Griffin

John (Jack) Griffin, passed away on October 10, 2012 in Ashburn, VA after several debilitating strokes and a 10 year victim of dementia. He leaves his wife, Mildred, of 67 years, 3 children and their spouses, 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1922. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1944, served in WW II and retired as a Commander from the United States Naval Reserve after 30 yrs, but not before being recalled during the Korean War. He also retired from the FDNY as a Lieutenant after 20 yrs. He later was an assistant professor in the New York and Virginia Community College Systems. He leaves to his family and friends the gift of wonderful, warm memories. He was predeceased by a son in 1992.
