Obituary of Georgette Loeffler

Georgette Curty Loeffler, Age 96 Georgette Loeffler died peacefully, after a short illness, on November 21 at the Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg. Georgette was born in New York City on December 19, 1915, the daughter of Alfred and Marie (nee Dirand) Curty who were French immigrants. She was married for 57 years to Edward C. Loeffler until his death in 1991. They both enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad, golfing, and participating in amateur musical productions. Georgette was an accomplished gardener, a wonderful cook, and a crossword puzzle enthusiast. Ed worked for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, and they moved with his assignments, living in New York City, Minneapolis, Burlington, Vermont, and Richmond, Virginia. After Ed's death, Georgette moved to Reston to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She lived at Thoreau Place and was a member of the Whoopie Girls line dancing group that won a medal at the Senior Olympics. In addition to her husband, Georgette was preceded in death by six siblings, Julia, Bertha, Paul, Robert, Alfred, and Edward. She is survived by her son, Edward, of New York City; her daughter, Renee, and son-in-law, Philip Kronenberg, of Reston; her grandchildren, Grant Kronenberg and his wife Amanda, Todd, Kent, Gigi and Shafer Kronenberg; her great-granddaughter, Josephine Kronenberg; and many nieces and nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held in Reston at a later date.
