Obituary of Rose L. Meehan

Rose was born in Hackensack, NJ to Frank and Rose (nee McGinnity) Dauer on 18 April 1928. She was raised in Ridgefield Park NJ with her beloved older brother, the late Frank Dauer of Virginia Beach, VA. Her young life was greatly influenced by the Great Depression and World War II. After high school Rose graduated from The Katharine Gibbs secretarial college and began her "Gibbs Girl" career in New York City where she would later meet the dashing young executive she would marry. She and her girlfriends enjoyed seeing Broadway shows and the nightlife and the eclectic experiences of NYC. She married Thomas J. Meehan on 26 May 1956, and after a honeymoon in Rome, settled down in Beirut Lebanon. In Beirut Rose and Tom started their young family with the births of their first 2 sons and only daughter. In the early 60s Rose and her husband Tom returned stateside and completed their brood of four with the birth of their youngest son. Rose and family settled down into bucolic Hillsborough NJ to raise their children. She went back to work as a medical receptionist for a prominent Somerville, NJ cardiologist after her youngest graduated high school. She and Tom enjoyed antiques and took many trips to Europe and New Zealand during the next two decades, enjoying the road and each other's company. After her loving husband passed away in 2002, she moved in with her son Mark and his wife Lucy in Sterling VA and remained there for the remainder of her life. She is survived by son Rory and his wife Cindy Meehan of Mullica Hill, NJ, son Mark and his wife Lucy Meehan of Sterling, VA, daughter Deirdre Wall and her husband John of Salisbury, MA, son Thomas Meehan of California, grandchildren Catherine, Colleen and Joseph Meehan of New Jersey, and Gwen, Fallon, Lillian, Thomas and Harrison Wall of New Hampshire, Texas and Massachusetts.
