Obituary of Bessie M. Seymour

Betty Bleau Seymour Died January 3, 2013 following a lengthy illness. She was born September 30, 1923 in Ilion, NY and graduated from Ilion High School and the Utica College of Comptometry. An accomplished student, civic leader and athlete, she earned varsity letters in tennis, bowling and cheerleading. She was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award. An excellent swimmer, she earned advanced certifications in life saving from the American Red Cross. Following WWII she accompanied her husband to Hamilton College and to Syracuse University where they collaborated to earn him AB, MA and Doctoral degrees. They raised eight children in McLean, VA before retiring to Spring Valley, CA. She recently resided at the Sunrise Senior Living facility in Fairfax, VA. Survivors include sons Jon, Don and Jim; daughters Kathy, Betsy, Linda and Mary; thirteen grandchildren; and brother Carl of Mohawk, NY. Cremation will be followed by a memorial service for family members and interment in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Adam P. Seymour Foundation P.O.
