Obituary of Stanley Anthony Dragon

Stanley Anthony Dragon passed away in the early morning of Monday, January 14, in Reston, VA. Stan was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI. After finishing his undergraduate education at Providence College he followed his older brother Edward to Washington, DC. Stan served in the federal government for 33 years as an accountant for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In his prime Stan was known for his green thumb, an avid gardener and member of the National Orchid Society, Stan enjoyed spending time in his backyard greenhouse that boasted over 400 plants. He was also the "Head Deliveryman" for 22 years for his former spouse's wedding flower business, Snapdragon Flower Shoppe. He was an avid Washington Capitals and Redskins fan. Stan loved summer vacations with his family at the beach (Fenwick Island, DE and later Litchfield Beach, SC). After retirement he discovered cooking and enjoyed his children "ordering" in advance what they wanted for family weekend dinners. Stan was a beaming grandfather and could never get enough of his two grandchildren. Stan is survived by his former spouse, Gladys Dragon; his two children, Janet Baker (John Baker) and Jamie Dragon (Chinni Dragon); two grandchildren, Rachel and David Baker; and two brothers, Edward Dragon and Joseph Dragon. He has many nieces and nephews who will miss him, too. A viewing at noon, followed by a memorial service at 1pm, will be held on Friday, January 18th at Christian Fellowship Church in Ashburn, VA. The church is located at 21673 Beaumeade Circle, Ashburn, VA (enter through doors 100 or 200 for the chapel).
