My prayers are very much with you as the anniversary of Jeremy's passing comes. I want to share a quote with you that holds dear to my heart: "Those who have truly felt and witnessed the presence of God must preach His name." You will see your child again. I also want you to know that God is love. I realized this when people were holding up a bunch of signs that said, "God hates gays." Not only is that not true but I wondered to myself, "why would anyone worship a God who believes in hate?" This also explains why people say that God is someone we can not fully comprehend. There are so many different types of love and environments in which love can take place that there's no way we can comprehend every aspect of love. God Bless Jeremy and you all!

I've known Jeremy for a while but we didn't become closer until this year on the Monroe bus. Every morning Jeremy would have his iPad with the big sticker on the back and he would show me some of the most adorable, funny, and cute random pictures. Jeremy was a wonderful friend and he always knew how to make people smile and laugh. He was always so nice to everyone and always "stood up" for me on the bus while some of the guys would joke with me. I will miss Jeremy very much and he will always be in my thoughts.

I was fortunate enough to know him through Strategy Club. He always seemed to have a ready quip or a knowing smile when he came to our club sessions. He was funny and bright and always offered a lighthearted take on whatever the club was up to. I remember meeting Jeremy on one of the first days of school this year as he hung out with the other Techies and Drama Kids outside of the Black Box. I can recall reprimanding him for some language... but after that first day he was always respectful, always funny, and always helpful. Most days he'd stop by the Black Box to say hello to his friends and to me, and after he got to know me, he even said he wished he'd taken Tech Theatre this year. As the new drama teacher, that meant a lot to me. A few short weeks later, he became a member of the run crew for the fall show, Take Ten. As we ran rehearsals, I listened to the hilarious conversations Jeremy and Mike M. held over headset, and laughed as he and Mike staged a "zombie apocalypse" backstage during a dress rehearsal. I was looking forward to working with him for the musical. Although I didn't know him very long and he wasn't in any of my classes this year, Jeremy was and is still one of my "kids," and I will miss him a great deal.

In 8th grade, I had just moved here from Metro Manila, The Philippines. I didn't have too many friends and I felt really awkward not knowing everything that the other students did because I had always had a different curriculum and used different equipment. I had never even seen a ScanTron before. So, I walked into my Pre-Algebra math class on the first day a little hesitantly, but suddenly in strode Jeremy with one of his Filipino shirts with a jeepney printed big and bold on it. I almost had a heart attack! He was Filipino! After that, I felt better that someone knew what I was talking about when I mentioned Luzon or Metro Manila. We didn't really talk a lot in high school, but when we did, it was about the Philippines.
