William D. (Doug) Foran, Sr. (90 ) Longtime resident of Alexandria, Virginia and after retirement, Kill Devil Hills, N.C. died at home in Sterling, VA on January 31st 2013. Born in Bristol Tennessee, he served during World War II in the U.S. Army 526th Anti-Aircraft Gun Battalion. He entered the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department in 1948 as a patrolman and retired in 1972 at the rank of Inspector serving as head of the Criminal Investigations Division. He established and commanded the first Internal investigation Unit for the Department. He is survived by three children, William D. Foran, Jr. of Middelburg, Va, Frances Rose Hudson of Reston, Va and Mary Foran Hutton of Waterford, Va., six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. His wife of 65 years, Rose Mary, died in 2010. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 46833 Harry Byrd Highway, Sterling, VA from 10:00 Am until Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 Am. Interment Mt. Comfort Cemetery. The family requests expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Salvation Army
