Obituary of Carole Anne Hemingway

Please share a memory of Carole to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carole Anne Rogers Chabot Hemingway Carole lost her four year fight with peritoneal cancer on Feb. 3, 2013. Carole was born in 1945, in Bryan, TX and lived in Houston, TX in her early years. Carole's father was an officer in the Strategic Air Command so she lived on various air bases in the US and lived in Spain during her last two years of high school. Carole's first marriage to Paul Chabot was short and ended when he died of leukemia. Carole met her current husband in 1970 and they were married in 1971 in Maryland. Carole worked for a defense contractor that was trying to develop over-the-horizon radar. With the growing deployment of military satellites in the early 1970's, the need for the specialized radar system was lost. Carole learned to program mid-range IBM computers and she and her husband formed a computer software company in the early 1980's. An early client was the Democratic National Committee and the 1984 Democratic Presidential Convention. Carole's clients included the Government of Kuwait, the Department of the Navy, the American Red Cross, Marriot Corporation, Erols TV, Weyerhaeuser Corporation, and numerous professional and trade societies among others. Her favorite client was the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center to whom she donated many hours of computer support. Carole and her husband also owned a horse boarding facility and a restaurant in northern VA. Carole was not able to have children, so the happiest period of her life began in 1990 when she and her husband were able to adopt a baby from Texas. Carole is survived by her husband, Dr. Bruce S. Hemingway, and her son, Sean D. Hemingway, both of Herndon, VA, her father, Col. Thomas J. Rogers, of Temple, TX and her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Sharon Rogers of Lakeway, TX.
