James J. Reid "Captain" Of Herndon, Virginia was born November 20, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio. Died on January 31, 2013 at Reston Hospital. A graduate of Boston University, James proudly played football for this university for four years. James served in the military then had a distinguished career on Wall Street as an analyst and broker. He was most proud of his involvement with Kiwanis International as Lieutenant Governor (1976/1977) and the Mason's. Retired, James was known to many locals as "Crabby" cooking and operating a Crab Cake Kiosk at Wegman's. He is survived by his wife Marlene Speak Reid; children James Reid, Jacqueline Smedley, JoAnn Reid, Cassandra Stegina, Lizabeth Kahn and Marlene's four children Michael Speak, Susan Hanrahan, Bill Speak, Daniel Speak; fourteen grandchildren; brother David Reid and sister June Smith Rossolillo. James was loved and will be missed dearly. His passion for sailing and the ocean, infectious smile, humor and spirit will live on forever.
