Gene, this is your little brother who seemed to not have enough time to show you how much you really meant to me. I am having a hard time with this, I can't believe you are actually gone to a better place. I will never forget you CogCo1. May God bless you, and keep you. Your little brother.

My uncle Gene was the sweetest and most genuine person I have ever met. He always had a smile on his face, and the most positive outlook on life. He would do anything for anybody, and he was always looking out for me. I am so glad I had the opportunity to know someone as amazing as him. Rest in peace Uncle Gene, I love you so much.

So sorry Joanne. I know how hard it is to lose someone you love. Alan was the same age as Gene. They were way too young!

When I think of Gene, I think of him as part of the foundation of the family both his immediate and extended families. He was the support that we all take for granted, the guy flipping burgers at the family outing, telling a corny joke, or just passing on some of his wisdom he has learned over the years. I have had the privilege of being a part of his circle for the last 34 years. I can remember the first time I met him- a mere 17-year-old kid. He shook my hand firmly, and looked me in the eyes wondering if I would be suitable for his beloved niece. He soon welcomed me as a part of the family from then on I knew I had a friend that would support my family and me. Gene and Jo have been there for us, I don't think they ever missed any of my daughters Birthdays even though Gene may have just
finished working a midnight shift at the airport, one of the little things that mean a lot but we all take for granted.
It goes without saying that Gene was a genuinely kind and caring soul. We will miss him dearly but always remember him as an honorable man of integrity and great wisdom, who we only hope to carry on his genuine goodness.

Gene-a-Roo would sing THE FOX WENT OUT ON A WINDY NIGHT to Vicki & Shannon and Mama Joan's sons, Jeff & Jody, during night-time car rides from Fairfax to Sterling following dinner at Shakey's Pizza Parlor! The children would sign and laugh along! Picture 4 adults & 4 small children squeezed into one car with Gene-a-Roo behind the wheel (before car seat requirements)!

Life is way too short and the loss of Gene is proof. We hold you all in our hearts right now. It was an honor to know Gene. His calm nature helped many people. His love and honor for his family is unmatchable. We will of course always think of him at the gym, his sincere speech each year at the reward banquet and his friendly easy going nature. I don't ever recall seeing him without that infectious smile. I also will always think of him by the grill on those special fourth of July days. Please know we share in your grief and love you all very much.

The Browne brothers from Brooklyn all remember the wonderful times we had with Gene when he was a kid in Brooklyn. We remember Gene and his sister Pat showing us the new rock and roll dance in our living room. He used to call us every few years to see how we were doing. We will always cherish our childhood memories of Gene.
