Martha Thompson Holler Martha Thompson Holler died on Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Bristol Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Wilson, N. C. on Sept. 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late David Augustus Thompson and Lula Bunch Thompson. Mrs. Holler lived and worked in Arlington and Reston, Virginia for 45 years. She and her late husband, John J. Holler, Sr., moved to Bristol, TN in 1985 and enjoyed their retirement years here. They had been married for 59 years when he died in May, 2000. She is survived by daughter Jean Everard and husband Bill, in Alexandria, VA; daughter Janice Rogers and husband, Bob, in Scottsdale, AZ; son John J. Holler, Jr. and wife Susan in Leesburg, VA; and son Peter D. Holler and wife Ann Kelley Holler in Bristol, TN. Mrs. Holler had nine loving grandchildren: Kelly Ann Millward and husband Mike, Alexandria, VA; Amy Everard Thompson, Alexandria, VA; Nancy Everard Gordon and husband Joey, Alexandria, VA; Elizabeth Holler Ransom and husband Matt in Winston Salem, NC; Janet Holler Bentley, Monroe, LA; Ariel Lotz, Woodbridge, VA; Robin Lotz, Richmond, VA; Kim Harris, Round Hill, VA; and Karen Ridings, Harpers Ferry, WV. Mrs. Holler is also survived by eleven great grandchildren. Martha Holler had a distinguished career in the service of the United States Department of Defense. She was one of the highest ranking female civilian workers during the 1960's and 1970's and rose to the level of Chief of the Accreditation and Travel Branch under the Secretary of Defense. She held subsequent positions of leadership in Corem International in Vienna, VA and served as Church Administrator at First Presbyterian Church in Bristol, TN for several years in the 1990's. Mrs. Holler was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Bristol. She loved her church and believed in its mission. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Capital Fund or the Minister's Discretionary Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 701 Florida Avenue, Bristol, TN, 37620. The family would like to thank the many friends and church members who supported her in prayer. The family would also like to thank faithful staff members at Broadmore Assisted Living Memory Care Unit and Bristol Health and Rehabilitation Center for their excellent care during her last few years. A service of witness to the resurrection will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Bristol, TN, at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The committal and interment will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
