Donald W. Stigers, Sr. of Ashburn, VA peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at his home surrounded by his wife of 55 years and their two children. Mr. Stigers was born on December 29, 1924 in Punxsutawney, PA to David and Ellen (Graham) Stigers. Mr. Stigers graduated early from Punxsutawney High School to join the US Navy and served as a medical corpsman in WWII, including the Invasion of Normandy. Upon return from service, Mr. Stigers attended and graduated from George Washington University and began his 38 year career in Foreign Service at the Dept of State. Mr. Stigers is survived by his wife, Margaret (Brett) Stigers and his two children, William Stigers and Peggy (Stigers) Wright, along with his son in law Steven Wright and three grandchildren, Timothy Wright, Caitlyn Wright and Brian Wright. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Ashburn, VA on Wed March 6, 2013. Visitation will be at Adams Green Funeral Home, Herndon, VA from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, March 4, 2013. Internment at Arlington Cemetary will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either Evercare Hospice of Reston, VA or the American Heart Association
