Obituary of Richard Wayne Knisely

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard (Dick) Wayne Knisely passed away after a sudden illness on March 6th, 2013. He was 63. He leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Donna (Bobbe) Knisely, his son David and daughter Deborah (Brooks) as well as his two brothers, Robert and Donald, and four grandchildren. Dick, born in Milwaukee, WI, in 1949, graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in Physics and Astronomy. It was during these college years that he met Donna, his lifelong soul mate. He served in the Air Force for 20 years in intelligence and information technology before embarking on a successful career as a government contractor in the technology field. His military service led him to live all over the country, as well as in Germany - a time he always remembered fondly. Latterly, he and Donna settled in Northern Virginia. Dick was active in his church, Christ the Servant in Reston, VA, and served as part of the lay leadership for many years. Dick loved science and learning and was a connoisseur of single malt scotch, straight talk and sharp wits. His hobbies included genealogy, watching Formula 1 motor racing, the art of making good presentations and photography. In recent years he had become the unofficial family photographer and took many beautiful pictures of his grandchildren, Benjamin, Jason, Sebastiana and Emily. He will be deeply missed and remembered as a man of strong principles, reasoned thinking and above all as a loving husband, wonderful father and enthusiastic grandfather.
