Obituary of Robert William Swain

Robert William Swain, Jr., "Bob", slipped away peacefully at his home on May 3, 2013 with his Wife and Daughter by his side. Bob was 64 years old, born February 24, 1949 to the late Robert and Martha Swain, in Baltimore, Maryland. The family moved to Bethesda, Maryland in 1955. Bob was married to his wife, Karen, of Gaithersburg, Maryland in January of 1981 and they later moved to Potomac Falls, Virginia where they lived for 27 years. Bob and Karen were married for 32 wonderful years. Bob has one daughter, Karen Prosser, and two grandchildren he adored, Colin and Lauren. He is also survived by four sisters: Nancy Cost, Jean Barr, Lori McIntyre, and Amy Warffeli. He has four nieces and eight nephews. Bob took great pride in his home where he spent countless hours in his garage or shop working on home improvement projects. He enjoyed fixing just about anything that got broken and was also eager to help others with their projects. He also enjoyed remodeling cars but his passion was riding his Harley Davidson. He was a diligent member of the Fairfax Harley Davidson Chapter for 10 years where he took part in many charities and rides. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 10th at the Galilee United Methodist Church, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling, VA 20165. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Galilee United Methodist Church or to the Capital Caring Hospice, Attn: Capital Caring, Resource Development Department, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042 Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife Karen, daughter Karen, family and friends!
