Obituary of Debra Mac Lean

MAC LEAN Debra Lynn Mac Lean of Potomac Falls, VA died at home Wednesday, May 15th, 2013 at age 57. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 10th, 1955 to parents L.C. and Joan Frazier, she was the eldest of their 3 children. Growing up, she tap danced on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, NJ. As a teenager she modeled on the teen board for a department store, graduating from Atholton High School in 1974, later attending Averett College. She worked in the direct mail fundraising and newsletter publishing fields as an account executive, copywriter, production coordinator, and development director. She also earned certification as a fundraising professional. A member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Reston, VA, she sang in the praise band for 5 years. She loved hiking and the outdoors, serving as the volunteer bluebird captain at Algonkian Regional Park for 5 years, counting hatchlings each spring and recording the success of bluebird box placement around the park. She also volunteered with the Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) and Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA). Debra is survived by her husband Stuart and three children, sons Jonathan, age 19, and Stephen (Stassi), age 18, as well as daughter Kelly, age 14. She is also survived by her brother Leonard Frazier, sister Sherry Lorence, and her parents. Viewing will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29th at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA. A memorial service will be held at McLean Bible Church on Saturday, June 1st at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 831 Dranesville Rd., Herndon, VA with a reception to follow at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Reston, VA, on the corner of Rt. 7 and Reston Ave.
