June 05, 2013 Dot was my across-the-hall neighbor in the 1970's. My 2 roommates and I had just moved into one of the basement apartments. We saw this nice-looking young guy go into the apartment across from ours. Thinking that he possibly had 2 roommates, too, we needed an excuse to knock on the door. We decided that we could ask what day the garbage was picked up. I went across the hall and knocked on the door, expecting to meet this guy or maybe one of his roommates. I was completely stunned when his mother answered the door! My roommates and I met Dot by accident that day, but she began coming over for coffee, going shopping with us, and just sitting around talking. She also became one of the best friends I've ever had. I confided in her and asked her advice so many times, that she quickly became my 2nd mother. She was so much fun to be with, that I frequently forgot what an age difference there was between us. I feel such a deep sense of loss, but at the same time, I'm glad that she's not suffering anymore. I'm also glad that she was able to travel and enjoy life as much as she did. Goodbye, Dot. I'll always love you. ~ Lyn (Weatherford) Porpora, Orlando, Florida
