Obituary of Robert William Yosaitis

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert William Yosaitis (November 2, 1932- June 16, 2013) After watching yet another disappointing 2nd place finish for Phil Mickelson, Robert William Yosaitis, known to his friends as "Stretch", passed away while napping in his favorite chair. The only son of Anna and Peter Yosaitis, he grew up just across the Hudson from Manhattan in Jersey City. Proud of his Jersey City roots, he had endless stories of swimming near the Statue of Liberty, walking the railroad tracks and playing stickball in the streets. A natural athlete, his true passion was baseball. Rising to the highest level, he pitched for St. Peters College and the University of South Carolina, eventually getting the opportunity of the lifetime; a try-out for the Yankees and Giants. After 1 year at St Peters College in Jersey City, he felt the patriotic call and joined the Army during the Korean War. A dashing and svelte 6 foot 4", 142pound MP stationed in Manheim, Germany, he served his country bravely for 2 years. Upon returning home, he joined civilian life once again and matriculated at the University of South Carolina where he met a sorority sister named Carolyn Jones, who would become his wife of 55 years. After graduating, the couple moved to Monmouth County New Jersey to raise their two sons Bob and John. Stretch retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City at age 55 to pursue his other passions travel and photography. His favorite subjects were his children and grandchildren, especially playing sports. He would also go on to capture priceless memories of family gatherings, graduations and holidays, many of which hang in the homes of his friends and family. Robert William Yosaitis is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, his two sons Bob and John, and his grandchildren Brad, Abby, Robbie and Carly; all the people he loved most in the world. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
