Rev. Ronald Stephen Gillis Born Dec 10, 1941, died June 21, 2013, of cancer. Youngest of 8 children of Allen John and Mary Flora Gillis, in Boston. Youngest of 8 children. Attended Mission Church High School, St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto and Boston University, with a BA in History in 1963. In 1969 he received the licentiate degree in History and a doctorate in Canon Law from the University of Navarre in Spain. Ordained a priest for the Prelature of Opus Dei in August 27, 1967. Greatly appreciated for his gifts as a profound spiritual director, inspiring preacher and wonderful confessor. From 1972 to the present, he served intermittently as priest chaplain of Tenley Study Center in DC and The Heights School in its early years, and then for many years as chaplain of the Oakcrest School for girls in McLean. He also worked as an adjunct spiritual director at Mt. St. Mary's Seminary from 1976 to last year, when his illness prevented him from continuing. Most recently, from 2005 to present, he served as chaplain of Reston Study Center. Survived by three loving siblings: sisters, Doris and Martha, and brother Gil, all living in Falmouth, MA.
