One of my funniest and scariest memories of Grandma is when she escaped Sudley Manor house to go to Walmart. She had devised a plan to have the taxi wait down the street for her and even had one of her friends be the look out. She waited until no one was at the desk and hightailed it in the Manassas Cab to her favorite store. Of course they alerted the family and the police and we all looked for her for hours in the movies, the mall, the hair cuttery and the nearby Restaurants. Thank God for the multi-colored bright orange coat that she bought at the home shopping network because she was easy to spot. We found her relaxing on the chair in the TV section of Walmart watching Dr. Phil.

Marge has been a force in my life since I was 16. When her only son proposed to me, a condition of the marriage was that I learn to make chili like his mother. I have always used that recipe. Her love for her family and her faith in God and prayer were unshakable. She had a tenacity and determination I have seen nowhere else. When Joe and I were newly married and soon had 2 young children, she visited frequently and was always an integral part of our family's life. She sent a "care package" every month with clothes and toys for Rick and Teresa, even when she lived in Africa. I can hear Joe at the Pearly Gates saying "Hello, Boops" and she will say "Call me Mother".

Grandma left me with a lot of fond memories- She was always making us laugh - even when she wasn't trying. It wasn't long ago, She knew I worked from home and would often call me to tell me "I've fallen and can't get up" (really - just like the commercial :) - I would try to tell her an easy way to get up, but she would just say- That's all right - I'll just wait for you to get here. Off I'd rush and when I arrived, she's be sitting on the floor watching television asking me what took me so long.. haha. Her whole life, when I would leave her after a visit, she's say "See You Later Alligator" - She was a wonderful lady and I'll miss her very much.
