Obituary of Patricia Van Belleghem

Patricia Kathryn VanBelleghem Patricia Kathryn (Ball) VanBelleghem began her eternal life with the Lord on August 3, 2013 at the age of 45 surrounded by her family. Trish succumbed to the melanoma cancer that she fought with courage and dignity for the past two years. Trish leaves behind her three children Daniel (14), Kathryn (11), and Elizabeth (10); husband Dan; loving parents Michael and Janet Ball; brothers Mike, Fred, Joe, and Ed; and her sister Peggy. She graduated Bishop O'Connel High School in 1986 and Kings College in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania in 1990. Trish was an elementary school teacher at St. Agnes School in Arlington, VA and Poplar Tree Elementary in Chantilly, VA. Trish was a homemaker and an amazing mother to Daniel, Kathryn, and Elizabeth, loving wife to Dan, and true friend to all who knew her. She lived for her family and friends, always putting others needs before hers, and was the glue that held the family bond together. She was an active volunteer at Our Lady of Hope School and Girl Scout Leader with Troop 521. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her children's many sporting events, including lacrosse, basketball, flag football, soccer, and track. She was focused on making memories for her family, especially through vacations. Her favorite destinations were the beaches at Sandbridge, VA and Outer Banks, NC. During her illness, she planned an awesome spring break vacation to Key Biscayne, FL that included swimming with dolphins and paddle boarding in the Atlantic. The family would like to thank the hundreds of people who supported Trish and her family with prayers. The family would also like to convey a very special thanks to all those who managed Trish's care, especially her oncologist Dr. William Sharfman and his team at Johns Hopkins Medicine. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation at www.melanoma.org. Family will receive friends on Wednesday August 7, 2013 from 6:00-9:00 PM at Adams Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St, Herndon, VA. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:00AM Thursday August 8, 2013 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 46639 Algonkian Parkway, Potomac Falls, VA. Interment will be private.
