Obituary of Rami Joseph Badawy
Please share a memory of Rami to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rami J. Badawy, of Sacramento, California, died August 2, 2013 while vacationing at Lake Tahoe. The cause of death was a heart attack.
Rami was born in Wales, Great Britain and spent his early childhood in Lebanon. He immigrated to the United States while still very young and lived in Bethpage, New York. After graduating from John F. Kennedy High School, Plainview, NY in 1974 where he played on the football team, Rami attended Miami University. He went on to work as an Examiner for the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (now FINRA) and continued his career in the securities industry until the late 1980s. After entrepreneurial pursuits in the computer industry, Rami worked in construction and completed several major residential renovations in Washington, DC. Rami Badawy returned to school to earn his nursing degree from Northern Virginia Community College in 2012 followed by RN licensure in the state of California.
Rami was a deep, caring soul, who was quick to lend a hand. This gentle giant, or "moose" as he called himself, was known for sharing his laughter and charm with everyone he met. As Rami pursed his colorful and varied life, he made friends easily and extended himself freely. He was a favorite of the South Lakes High School Class of 2006, in Reston, Virginia, for helping construct the winning homecoming float year after year. Rami loved politics, spoke several languages and recently rekindled his love of collecting comic books.
Rami is preceded in death by his loving mother, Odette Khouzan. He is survived by his cherished wife Erika Gaspar and beloved children Alexandra and Charles Badawy from his marriage with Beth Badawy. He is also survived by his father, five brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are finding comfort in sharing stories about Rami, his brilliant sense of humor, and his love of politics and travel. Please join us in celebrating his life on August 16, 2013 from 4:00-7:00p.m. at the Reston Hyatt.
