Clement E. Morin, of Reston, Virginia, formerly of Vernon and South Windsor, CT, passed away on Saturday, August 31, in Alexandria, VA. Born on December 29, 1920 in Buckland, Quebec, he moved to Connecticut with his family at the height of the 1920's depression graduated from Windham High School in 1939 and worked in the insurance industry in Hartford until drafted into the Army early in the Second World War. Based on his education and administrative abilities, he was assigned to the U.S. Army Air Force and permanently assigned to the Alaskan Air Division headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where he served until the end of the war. While stationed in Edmonton, he met Rita Arcand; they married on V-E Day, May 8, 1945. After demobilization, he returned to Connecticut and began his career as an accountant and auditor for the state government, retiring as a division chief in the Office of the State Comptroller in 1983. During this time, he served on the board of directors and as president of the Connecticut State Employees Association (CSEA) Credit Union for two terms. Clement Morin leaves his wife of 68 years, his daughter Louise Costes, wife of Gary Costes, of Glastonbury, and his son James C. Morin and his wife, Elaine Porzel Morin, of Herndon, VA. He also leaves 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Yvette Bergeron of Columbia, CT, Gemma Gunter of Vernon, CT and Theresa Bukowski of Wethersfield, CT. Calling hours will be held at the Adams-Green Funeral Home on Elden Street in Herndon, VA on Wednesday evening, September 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Herndon, VA, at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 5.
