On Tuesday, September 3, 2013, Beverly Ann Mercilliott of Sterling,Virginia passed away at Reston Hospital after a sudden illness. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1931 to Agnes and William Rehbein, Beverly attended Eastern High School and was a lifelong Washington area resident. She enjoyed a long career as a secretary and retired from the U.S. Geological Survey in 1992 after 40 years of proud, exemplary service. Beverly is survived by her sister Pamela Kaiser; daughters Linda Mercilliott and Carol Roberts; son-in-law Bill Roberts; grandchildren Katie Van Nuys (Nate), Becky Piekara (Steve), Emily Funderburk (Joe Dowgiallo), Christian Funderburk, and Jordan Funderburk; great grandchildren Julie and Maggie Van Nuys and Liam Piekara; friend of 60 years, Pat Emsweller; and a host of wonderful friends and neighbors from the Cascades Senior Center, the U.S.G.S., and her community. Our hearts are broken and she will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service for Beverly will be held at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA on Friday, September 20 at 3:00 p.m. Beverly loved dogs, especially her Mandy. For those who wish, gifts of remembrance may be made to PetSmart Charities or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
