I learned today of Jim's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Although I initially knew Jim professionally, I grew to consider him to be a personal friend. He ably led the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers' Utility Department, and he developed, earned, and deserved a continent-wide reputation for his extraordinary insights into and work for his union and industry. Over the span of 15+ years I had the real pleasure of getting to know him.
During his retirement, we'd occasionally cross paths, and compare notes about our families, loved ones and interests. He always spoke fondly of each of you, and I'm sure his last year here were happy ones.
I apologize for the lateness of this message, but wanted to convey my deep respect and admiration for Jim. He was remarkable, and it was my pleasure to have known and learned from him. May God bless and keep him, and each of you.

Today I read about the passing of Jim, I am so sorry for the loss to his family. As I read the paper I thought back to the time when I was acquainted with Jim. It was during the early 70's and we worked together at Dlco. Many changes were about to take place that would affect the lives of the lineman in PA. Jim would become the moving force that would change the landscape of linework and contribute to the safety of the lineman. He was the catalyst that convinced the politicians that the safety of the lineman came first. We finally had protection in the form of a HOT STICK BILL. Assuring all lineman that gloving high voltage lines would be regulated. To me this was his legacy. He eventually left Dlco and became involved with the IBEW on the national level. May God bless you and forever keep you by his side.

Jim was my boss in the Utility Dept. at IBEW. He was such a kind and gentle man, and was always looking for ways to reach out and help others. He loved sharing his wonderful recipes. May you know God's peace during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I think of Unca Jim walking through my parent's door, arms full of gifts and goodies for all and hopefully a sampling of his latest culinary masterpiece. I think of his easy manner and infectious smile. I think of how he joyfully provided those he cared about with not merely what was needed but wanted, and always something extra. I think of holidays past, family extravaganzas, and quite conversations. I will think of all these things and more in the days to come, and I will miss him.

We had the pleasure of having Jim in our community for many years. He and I joined the board at the same time and served together for several years. He was a great man that took his time to be thoughtful and fair to all. Many in the neighborhood know him for his time on volunteering or proudly walking his dog through the community. I for one always loved his writings, as they always made logical sense with a strong argument one way or another. Rarely did anyone argue with him as it would typically end up with him gently and respectfully turning them to his view. I and the community send our condolences to all of Jim's family, we have all lost a great sole.
