Obituary of Dena Edith Christensen

Dena Edith Olson Christensen was born in Platte, South Dakota, on February 15, 1909. She was one of 14 children living on their family's farm near Platte. At the age of 29, Dena left the farm taking a train to New York, worked, got married, and had two sons, Harold "Donny" and George. She moved to Stuarts Draft, Virginia, to be with Donny in 2006. In the last few years of her life, Donny was her lifeline, her 24-7 caregiver. She had a loving nature and was tender hearted. At the age of 13, in 1922, Dena accepted the Lord as her Savior through two sister workers in an old school house in Torre Lake, SD. She never wavered from her belief in the Lord. In later years the things of heaven were the things that meant the most to her. The things of this earth had lost their appeal. Dena died on October 31, 2013, at Augusta Health in Fishersville, VA, after just a few days of illness. She is survived by two sons, George and his wife, Linda, and Donny; one grandson, Grant, and two great-grandsons, Dillon and Ashton. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held al Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia at 11:00a.m. on November 5. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.
