Obituary of Catherine L. Colville

Catherine Colville was born in Chicago, IL in 1918 to Henry and Margaret Found. She grew up in Portland, Oregon graduating from Jefferson High School in 1935. She continued her education at Linfield College. Following graduation she got a job as a high school math and Latin teacher. She gave up her job as a teacher during World War II to join the Marine Corps. She was stationed at Marine Corps Barracks, Washington, DC rapidly rising through the enlisted ranks and receiving a commission. She left the Marine Corps as a 1st Lieutenant.
She remained in the Washington DC area following WWII serving her country as a civil service employee deciphering and translating intercepted communications.
She met her future husband Robert Allen Colville, who was also stationed at Marine Corps Barracks Washington DC. They were married in 1947 and had two sons, John and Jim.
She was a very active Christian. She hosted a bible study group in her home in Falls Church Virginia as well as at the Monroe House Assisted Living Center in Sterling Virginia since 1969. As a Christian outreach, she owned and operated three Christian bookstores throughout the 1970s and 1980s. All profits from these bookstores went to missionaries around the world. She also made five missionary trips to Russia. She was planning her sixth trip in 1993 when she suffered a stroke partially paralyzing her.
She is survived by her sister Julia Norene, her sons John and Jim, her grandchildren Kimberly Twigg and Ken Colville, and her great grandchildren Skyler and Paige Twigg.
