I just wanted to write a few lines to tell the family that although I do not know them or Declan and I live far away in Texas my heart was touched by this small child's fight with cancer. My prayer is for you and the rest of the family because I know your son is in a much better place (in Jesus' hands)this is the type of grief that can stay with you the rest of your life however I know the pain will lessen over time it of course will always be on your heart though. Draw your strength from God and from others that share your love for Declan. I am attending a Seminary here in Austin, Texas and your son and family have already been added to our list that we concentrate our prayers for. Please know you are loved and Declan is now healed and rejoicing in heaven. I respect that you as a family are trying even at this time to raise money for others that are going through the same trauma you have been going through. On the night everyone lit a candle in prayer for your little warrior. I opened this passage in an email, "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Know that little Declan and all of you are in our prayers tonight, Aug. 22, and every day. We are asking our good God to comfort you and to remind you -- in so many ways -- that your sweet baby is whole and well now, and in the arms of Jesus. God will carry you through every day, every mood, every remembrance, every hope, every sorrow...each and every feeling and thought -- in times when you feel empty, and in times when you feel abundance. Those who know and love you, and those of us who thank you for sharing your lives with us, can walk with you in grief, faith, gratitude, and in the confidence of Heaven. You don't know me, but I have been following your blogs daily sometimes several times a day. I am so sorry to hear that your sweet Angel has gone to Heaven. There are no words to help you through this difficult time. But know that you have so many people praying and thinking of you and your wonderful family. When I look up into the stary night, I'll think of Declan shinning down on all of us giving us his love and courage he showed to all during his difficult times. Stan and Sherri, although I have never meet either of you. I know other members Declan's very large and loving family. I have been following Declan's journey from the very beginning. After following the courage's journey Declan fought. I can not express the sorrow I felt when I received word of his passing. My heart aches at the loss and I cry selfish tears, which I choke back when I think of what Declan would think. I have followed his Journey and prayed without ceasing. Each day I have looked forward to his smiles and news of your adventures. I don't know what I will do without them, stories of wagon races and furry friends. There were so many beautiful moments. I fell in love with your little boy and his spirit as you shared them. Regardless of my sorrow I feel today his smile just keeps shining through. I know soon the good moments will outshine my tears, but I can't bring myself to let go. I want to keep his beauty with me forever. He was such a blessing, he was blessed to have you as his parents and your example has been a blessing to me. My prayers remain with you. As my daughter Clara explained to me last night, the boy I love is safe with Baby Jesus now. My prayer is that we can all experience the calm and peace that comes from the faith of a child. May the Lord be with you.

Sweet Declan.......you entered our lives for a short while, but you changed our lives forever.
