Obituary of Shirley Ann Straley

SHIRLEY BATTON STRALEY Shirley Batton Straley, 76, of Herndon, Virginia departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2013. Shirley also lived part of the year at her home in Clarksburg, WV and in Melbourne, FL during the winter. Shirley was a charter-member of the Cornerstone International Alliance Church in Oakton, Virginia since 1984. In West Virginia she attended the Rivesville Free Methodist Church. Shirley was married to Jackie V. Straley (deceased) of Burnsville, WV on October 14, 1961 in Morgantown, WV. She is survived by son, Karl Straley and his wife Brenda of Summit Point, WV and daughter Kimberley Young and her husband David of Herndon, VA, grandson's Joshua Young, Justin Young and Cody Young and granddaughter Janet Peterson. She is also survived by her sister Doris Jean Palusky and her husband Charles of Odenton, MD and her brother Gayle Batton and his wife Janet of Orange, VA. She is also survived by sister in laws Betty Straley of New Philadelphia, OH and Dorma Straley of Craigsville, WV and brother-in-law Frank Angiulli of Bridgeport, WV and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Shirley was born in Bridgeport, WV on November 28, 1937 daughter of Roy and Artha (Godfrey) Batton. She is a 1958 graduate of Morgantown High School (WV). Shirley retired from Montgomery Ward in Laurel, Maryland and in 1986 she and her husband Jack (deceased) started their own company, S&S Telnet in Herndon, Virginia where she was active until 2010. Friends may call at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on December 29, 2013. Funeral Services will be held there at 11:00 A.M. on Monday December 30, 2013. There will be a service at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 3 ½ miles south on Hwy. 19, Westover, WV at 1:00 P.M. Thursday January 2, 2014 It is requested that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Shirley's memory to the Salvation Army, a local Hospice group or other charity of your choice.
