ALBINA K. PAULMAN
1927 - 2014
Albina K. Paulman, Air Force wife and mother died on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Sunrise at Reston Town Center in Reston, VA. Devoted Mother of Toni D. Dewey and Dolores J. Butler; grandmother of Michelle Dewey Griffin (USN) and Paul Dewey; great grandmother of Nathaniel Dewey, and Deven, Olivia, and Evelyn Griffin. A "Legend" in her own lifetime, Albina was widely known and loved by people everywhere. She was a woman that loved to be different. She wore flashy clothes/jewelry and was honest, loving and caring of everyone. She lifted people's spirits with her gregarious Ukrainian personality. What people didn't know was she was in a German slave labor camp, often eating potato peelings to survive. When the war ended she met and married US Army Lt John Paulman who took her and her mother, uncle, and aunt out of a displaced persons camp and helped them with immigration processing. Albina traveled the world in the US and overseas as an Air Force officer's wife, increased her unique personality over a 30 year period. She was a wonderful hostess, gourmet cook, seamstress, painter, poet, decorator, fluent in 4 languages and was a wonderful nurturing mother and role model. Her funeral is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. Following the funeral a 3:30 reception will be held at the Hidden Creek Country Club, Reston, Virginia. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Heart Fund.
