The first Christmas Decoration Party I had, Ed was the tallest person at the party, thus he was the only one who could put on the last decoration, which was the Christmas Tree Angel. This started the tradition of whenever I was able to have a Christmas Decoration Party, it was Ed's job to add the Christmas Tree Angel. I will leave off the Christmas Tree Angel this year in honor of Ed. He will be missed daily, but especially during the Christmas season. From Alisa

I met Ed through his beautiful wife Jo Ann around 1987 and from the very beginning I knew that we all would be forever friends. Ed always had a good story or a corny joke for me at every Christmas Eve gathering. The thing that I admired most about him was his love for his family. Ed will be sorely miss. Rest in peace my friend.

Edward Lee Russell was born to the late David Lacy Russell, Sr. and Lillie Mae (Frazier) Russell on November 18, 1952 in Cherry Point, North Carolina. After fighting a battle with cancer Ed passed away at Georgetown Hospital in Washington D.C. on January 14, 2014.
Ed had two brothers who preceded him in death, David Lacy Russell Jr. and James Russell. Ed graduated from Redland High School, Redland CA in 1970. He joined the US Air force in 1972 and served for four years. In 1976 he relocated from Arizona to the San Francisco Bay area where he met his wife Jo Ann Riley. They lived in the Bay Area for twelve years before relocating to Northern Virginia. On October 30, 1990 their first son, James Edward Russell was born and four years later on May 2, 1994 their second son Jonathan Lee Russell was born.
Ed successfully owned and operated R3, Inc., a software/hardware sales company from 1988-1995. After the close of his business, he tried his hand at Real Estate, became a Property Manager and a Portfolio Manager, CMCA.
Ed was fascinated with electronics and studied and received his Associate Science Degree from West Valley College located in Saratoga, CA. He continued his study of Electrical Engineering at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA. One of his greatest passions was music. He had an excellent ear for music and enjoyed all types of music; his collections were unlimited.
During Ed's younger years he tried his hand at poetry and in 1978 one of his poems (SHOUT) was selected and put in print in the book "Pegasus" by National Poetry Press. Ed was an advocate reader and enjoyed reading books written by Dean Koontz, and many other authors.
Ed loved hiking, camping, and visiting the Oceans (Atlantic and Pacific). He was an amateur photographer and took many pictures of nature while on these trips. He was also an excellent chess player and spent many hours with his sons James and Jonathan teaching them the art of the game.
Ed enjoyed life and loved spending time with family and friends cooking his famous BBQ and frying his famous fried Chicken while keeping everyone entertained with his musical selections.

Ed Russell, is my brother-in-law, and I have so many stories about him, having lived our young adult lives during the same time, and marrying two sisters from a great family....Ed and I thought we were pretty fortunate!
Ed had many wonderful qualities, and he always wanted you to have a great time....the last time we saw each other was during the last inauguration, and here we are sitting at his dinner table, he's serving us lasagne,we're staying up almost all night, knowing we had to get up early the next morning to head to the Capital!
Another quality Ed possessed, was his impeccable taste in "Music" the last time together, he gave me a CD that he had generously made for his friends for Christmas 2012, that had the greatest collection of Jazz!
However, marrying Jo Ann, and being the father of two wonderful sons, now young men, had to make Ed enormously proud!
Ed, I'm really going to miss you, my brother.....Dos Palos, Cupertino, San Mateo, Fairfax and on.....you'll be truly missed.
Rest in peace!
Dale Morris, Sr.

There are to many stories to name, but I will never forget the many times we shared in laughter over something you said or you said to Jo Ann. I will never forget the play list from the master DJ, or the delicious dishes you could cook better than Jo Ann(wink) and the many dances we shared in your living room. Which always ended with you sitting down while Jo Ann and I finished up. You always managed to make me laugh out loud when I least expected it. You will be missed my friend.
Love always
