Obituary of Brian Carter Crawford

Brian Carter Crawford Sept. 29, 1944 - January 19, 2014 "This We'll Defend" (U.S. Army Motto) Brian Carter Crawford was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the beloved son of Russell and Frances McQuire Crawford. A graduate of Washington-Lee High School in 1963, Brian served honorably in the United States Army and U.S. Army Reserves from 1967 - 1973, serving with distinction in the Vietnam War. His decorations include The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and 2 Overseas Bars. After returning from Vietnam, Brian made his career alongside his father in residential and commercial construction. His favorite pastimes were enjoying his family, travel, playing first baseman on St. Marks Church softball league and cracking jokes with his Cousin Ann Marie. He also enjoyed playing guitar, singing along to old tunes, and writing songs with his Uncle Buddy, inspiring the professional song writing of his son, Aaron Crawford, raising Russell and Aaron with the motto. "Live your dream." Brian would never say no to a ride in the country or hesitate to jump on his Harley and just ride. Brian leaves behind two sons, Aaron Crawford (Heather) and Russell Crawford and their mother, Lisa; two grandchildren Ayden (7) and Ava (5) of Sterling, VA; two sisters: Becky Sheffield (Paul) of Nokesville, VA, and daughters, Sherry Forsht and Dorene Mullins; Cindy Crosby (Bobby) of Peyton, CO and daughter Courtney Crosby; and many in-laws, friends and family too numerous to list. Brian was a devoted son, father and grandfather, brother and friend to all. He is deeply loved and is remembered by all whose lives he touched.
