My favorite musical experience of Mark came in an open mic night that Mark, Phil Rosen and I participated in. The three of us had finished our tunes and another group of musicians was playing. They had played one of their songs and then they asked Mark to join them on bass for a song. Mark's contribution was immediate and dramatic. He provided a solid foundation without overpowering the rest of the musicians and as a group they sounded much better. I've had some experience playing bass in Jack Casady's beginners class and it was so cool to see and hear Mark do all the things that Jack talked about. It sounded so good that these guys asked Mark to play with them for the rest of their set. And, I loved listening to my friend.

We were deeply sorry to hear the news of Mark's death. Mark was a good friend to The Fur Peace Ranch and on the few occasions that we got to talk when he was here taking guitar/bass lessons, he always spoke so gently about his family. Mark was quiet but he was not quiet about his love for music and especially the Jefferson Airplane. I think he secretly hoped that he he would see a reunion of the band....but now he's playing in the ultimate band. Love and respect to you Mark and to your family.

He was such a presence with the Crew Team and his love and support for is daughter Jenny was obvious. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that his presence and passion will be missed.
