Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Scotty Buswell, age, 65 and Great Falls resident for 28 years, lost his 25 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. He was born to Scott and Dotty Buswell on June 2, 1948 in East Orange, New Jersey. Along with his family, they moved to Queenstown, Maryland and then to Northern Virginia where he grew up with his siblings, Betsy, Mary, and Jim. He attended Yorktown High School and was part of the class of 1966. Scotty excelled at sports, he played soccer and was the co-captain of the football team. While in high school he met Betsy Thompson, they later married and had two beautiful children, Rob and Lee. Scotty attended and graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Years later Scotty met and fell in love with Suzie, they married on January 21, 1977. Together they raised their children Kim, Scott, and Jaime with love. Scotty was Vice President of Buswell and Bennett, the family business, which his father co-founded. In Scotty's free time, if he wasn't too busy coaching his kids in soccer, baseball, or softball, he could surely be found on the golf course. After putting his clubs down due to his MS, Scotty stayed an active member of Riverbend Golf and Country Club as a card shark. He found strength and comfort from his daily gin games and enjoyed taking money from everybody, especially late Joe Gamble. Scotty found pleasure from reading and enjoyed his Kindle. He loved discussing his latest reads with his children. Scotty was very dedicated to his family, and leaves behind loving members which include his mother Dotty, his wife Suzie, his five children, Rob, Kim, Lee, Scott, and Jaime, two daughters-in-law, Sarah and Carol, three sons-in-law, Mike, Michael, and Jason, eight grandchildren, Mia, Jill, Patrick, Rebecca, Tommy, Holden, Landon, and Aubrey, his three siblings, Betsy, Mary, and Jim, and his long time care giver and companion Marisol and her son, Bruce, as well as a number of loyal friends. Funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Great Falls United Methodist Church, 10100 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, VA with a gathering at church 1 hour prior. Memorial donations are suggested to National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org)
