Ed was a real gentleman as we worked together near the end of his military career in The Secretary of Defense office in the Pentagon. We all knew he was a bright and talented person but only now do I know the extent of his capabilities. Without question we will all miss him dearly. YDYaP

CDR ED MORITZ WAS MY BEST FRIEND IN THE USCG... I FIRST MET HIM, ON USCGC SHERMAN (WHEC-720), THEN HOMEPORTED IN BOSTON... WHEN HE WENT TO DC, TO USCG HDQRS, I FOLLOWED HIM, AND MOVED INTO HIS APARTMENT, IN SW DC, WHEN HE WAS TRANSFERRED... HE IS THE REASON WHY I BECAME A RESERVE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR... AFTER MY GRADUATION, FROM THE NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL, MONTEREY, CA, I TRANSFERRED TO CCGD12, IN SAN FRANCISCO, CA... WHEN I GOT MARRIED, ON 10/11/1980, ED WAS IN CHARGE OF OUR ARCH OF SWORDS... I WAS INVITED TO ED'S WEDDING, IN HAWAII, BUT COULD'NT GO... WE KEPT TRACK UNTIL WE WERE BOTH READY TO RETIRE, IN JUNE, 1993, FROM GOVERNORS ISLAND, NY... MY WIFE ORGANIZED A RETIREMENT PARTY AT THE GOVIS O'CLUB, FOR ED AND ME... WE KEPT IN CONTACT, AND GOT TOGETHER, NUMEROUS TIMES, IN SAN FRANCISCO... UNTIL HE GOT SICK, IN NY, I NEVER KNEW ABOUT THE AGENT ORANGE, DURING HIS TOUR IN VIETNAM... HIS PASSING WAS TRULY SAD, FOR MY WIFE, CATHY, AND ME... ED WAS A TRUE GENTLEMAN, AND FRIEND... WE WILL MISS HIM, ALWAYS... CDR JAY & CATHY OAKMAN, SAN FRANCISCO

So sorry to learn of the passing of this very fine man. The Commander, as I always called him, was a very kind and generous man. He was always supportive of me and my business, a great client, a fun chat, and my attorney when I needed legal help. He would always take my call, and was a dear friend! Condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed.

We have so many fond and happy memories of our times together on both sides of the ocean. For me, our day at Windsor Castle, in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen, when I was privileged to be your guest at The Garter Ceremony, was particularly special, and one I will never forget. We will miss you no end and the great affection you always had for your English family. Rest in peace dear cousin. God Bless. Glenys, Peter and Tim.xx

Many, many happy memories of a man with a huge sense of fun and a glint in his eye !! Eddie would constantly baffle us on his visits to the uk, teaching us facts about our own country we didn't even know along with being the family tree expert !!! We will miss you greatly and our love and thoughts go to your family at this sad time. Ps. Hope you haven't told your Mum about the cake plate ! X
