Obituary of Eleanor Mae Cooney-Jones

Eleanor Mae Cooney-Jones (85) passed peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2014 while visiting her daughter and grandchildren in Columbus, Ohio. Eleanor was born July 8, 1928 in Herndon, Virginia to Warren and Alice Beach. In 1946, Eleanor moved to Washington, DC where she worked for the Red Cross. There she met the love of her life, Jack Cooney. They were married for 42 years and raised 5 children in Falls Church, Virginia, she still lived in the same home they purchased in 1954. The good Lord took Jack in 1990. Eleanor remarried in 1996 to Dale Jones who lost his devoted wife in 1992. Eleanor was the loving mother of John Cooney, Cherry Hill, Debbie Albiston, Candy McCullers, the late Gary Cooney and their spouses, Linda Cooney, Powell Hill, George Albiston and Mark McCullers. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and their spouses, JJ (Renee), Justin (Sara), Shawn (Lauren), Chris, Ryan, Corey, Camryn, Carson and the late Stephen Kusterbeck and 8 great-grandchildren, Jack, Claire, Caroline, Abby, Jonah, Stephen, Ryan, Andrew and the late Aubrey, Grant and Cate. Sister of Beanie Lambert, Evelyn Bullock, Alma Updike, Barbara Bilbow, Nancy Ellen and predeceased siblings Gene Beach, Floyd Beach, Richard Beach and Alice Wright.
