Obituary of James Rutherford

James Freeman Rutherford passed away on May 8, 2014 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was born on April 9, 1942 in Bradford, PA to Catherine and John Rutherford. James grew up in Bradford, PA. He graduated from Bradford High School in 1960, and Grove City College in 1964, where he received a degree in business administration. He attended American University Law School in Washington, D.C. and graduated in 1967. He spent his entire career as a U.S. Attorney for the Justice Department. James was a long time member of the St. Andrews Society of Washington, D.C. He was a devoted husband, brother, and uncle, and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Catherine and John Rutherford, and his wife Heather Rutherford. James is survived by his sister Susan Doriguzzi of Stephens City, VA; his brother David Rutherford of Potomac, MD; and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 26 Chautauqua Place, Bradford, PA on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
