I can't imagine trying to pin point a story my mom was involved in. She was my worst enemy, but my best friend. My mom and I were so insanely similar, it often caused us to butt heads. We often fought, said mean things, got off the phone and said even more mean things, but the next day... it didn't matter. If I needed advice, or tips on how to spell something, we forgot all the stupid stuff and pretended it didn't matter. My mom always says.. in 100 years, it won't matter anyway. The last memory will be one of my favorites. Even leading up to the days of her passing, my mom showed signs of life when I entered the room. That made me know, I was her number 1. It didn't matter what any one said, did, or tried to get her to do, she refused. Every time I got there and she heard my voice, she lite up. She knew I needed her to do that. My mom has always been by my side weather it was when she would make me grilled cheese when I was sick, to fighting for Wayne when I was a kid (and no one else approved of him), to driving me and my friends all around Sterling Park to friend's houses, the movies, the mall, you name it.... even helping me decide and make difficult decisions and life and for my wedding, she was there. I'll never forget the good times, the bad times, and the fun times... because that's what we did. We had fun together (when we weren't being snippy with each other). We got along like sisters and had a bond like no other. I know she'll be watching over me from now to forever, and I can't wait to see what surprises she still has in store for me! Love ya ma.

Karen and I lived many miles away from each other but the few Visits we had together were Very Special! One time when my children were visiting their relatives in Michigan, I came home to VA and enjoyed Christmas Day with my Grandmother, my Grandmother's Children and Grandchildren .Karen being quite young then and showing her Concern for others did not understand how I could be away from my children for Christmas. I was very thankful to be with family and enjoy the Fellowship of Christmas Dinner in VA that year. During my summer visits to my Parents house in VA whom Karen referred to as Uncle Tim and Aunt Dorothy, we enjoyed watching Karen work at her Parents business always with a Smile on her Face. karen was there to show her Respect for both my Parents when they went to Heaven. The last time I saw karen, her husband and children, was at her Parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. While there, Karen came to me with a Smile and said Carol Lee, I have always Loved you. That meant so much to me. That evening we danced together and laughed together. Karen's Heartfelt Concern, Caring, Smiles and Love will always be remembered by me. Karen, my Memories of our Good times together and You will always be in my Heart. Love from your Cousin, Carol Lee

I remember Karen's hug and her sweet comments to me when I last saw her, at my grandfather's funeral just a month ago. She always knew my name (growing up with a twin sister, having someone remember which twin you were always meant a lot!). Will miss hearing her laugh at our family gatherings. Sending prayers and love to her family and to Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Walter.

I met Karen through our daughters, Becca & Marra who have been freinds since they were around 10 years old. They first became friends when they met through Jobies and like Karen were members of Bethel 52 and Past Honor Queens. It didn't matter where we were; a Jobie's event, a Bowling Alley, the Herndon Moose, the Herndon Festival, or even Jimmy's "Rally in the Alley". Karen was always a Ton of Fun. I will miss her fun and free spirit very much.

Mom Harrison and Dad Harrison (Eyeln & Walter),
With a heavy heart this week I am so sorry to hear the news about Karen. What memories her loss has brought to me these last few days about our Jobs Daughter days back in the late 70"s and 80's. She was always the life of our parties and fun of life......lol. Believe it or not she kept peace amongst all of us girls when we were together, especially with girls being girls. I know she had her own demons during her short life, but she will truely be missed with that great personality and smile. I have got to say this picture is exactly the one I would have chose for her, that little twinkle she had with so many of us during the years. Many hugs to all the Harrison's and members of Bethel #52 during the weeks to come.
Love to you all,
Marty Alexander Stuart

I first met Karen at Sterling Roller Rink. Once she found out I was a DeMolay, I was on her "friend" list. She'd always made it a point to race across the rink floor, when she saw me, to give me a hug........no matter how many people she had to run over! And in the many years since, I've been lucky to stay on that "list". I always got that hug, when every we ran into each other! Your hug & smile will be missed!!

My second year in college, I moved off campus into a less-than-highclass neighborhood. It was a hard year of school for me due to over-committing myself to wilderness search & rescue as well. Around Christmas time, though, Aunt Karen came into custody of a beautiful and sweet Belgian malinois puppy through her VaGSR foster work, and she decided it must be mine. She helped convince my parents of the fact, and now, 14 years later, she's still with me (if barely, the poor old girl). She has been my best friend through the worst times. Her fur will be soaking up a few more tears yet.

This is probably the first, or nearly first time my Aunt Karen held me. I'm two days old in this photo and it's my dad's birthday... This was the start of 33 years of cleaning up cuts, taking me on walks to the creek behind my grandparent's house, riding bicycles, being crazy, loving, laughing, pestering, worrying, hoping, forgiving... she's the reason for my first real trail ride, and a huge reason I strive so hard to be a good aunt myself... I learned both good and bad from her examples. And that love knows no sanity :-).

When I joined Job's Daughters, I met Karen and became friends. She was always at events with a smile on her face and mischief up her sleeve, or the other way around, depending upon the situation. After she and I graduated from high school we drifted apart, as teenage friends tend to do. She came back into my life at a very low point in hers and I realized how much our friendship meant to her, as well as the ties shared by being Jobie sisters. Karen would go through many struggles during the next few years, but she always seemed to return to Jobies and the friends and adults she had there. Later, Karen and I shared various joys and sorrows together, always with a smile, joke, and a "love you, sis!" that would be said with a mischievous twinkle that never seemed to leave her face. I have never met someone who would do anything and everything that she could for those that she knew and those that she didn't know. The ties that bound us as Jobie sisters kept her afloat when her seas grew rough and gave her joy at the end.
Love you, sis.

Karen and I have been friends since I joined Job's Daughters many years ago. We had a strong start, and have stayed close ever since. There are too many memories to draw out one, but Karen had the biggest heart of anyone I know. She is a natural caretaker, person or dog, of anyone in need of love and mothering. Karen would do anything for her friends, and frequently did. She is greatly missed.

In 2009 I spent a bit of time at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. After a few weeks there I was allowed visitors, and Keith and Karen came to visit. It was a very welcome visit indeed. Not only was my day brightened by Karen's ever-present smile and energetic life-loving spirit, but she brought me a care package of clean sweat pants and other clothes I still have today. Those fresh clothes were very welcome at the time. If you were ill or needed a friend, there was nobody better to have on your side than Karen.

We had just moved into our first house in Leesburg and were frantically searching for someone to let our three dogs out mid-day while we were at work. Karen to the rescue! She and the kids came up and let them out and played with them every day that spring. One day near Easter we came home to find Easter decorations around our house - including these Easter Doggie pictures Karen and the kids took. I'm sure Karen's up in heaven playing with Shy Anne and Cesar.
