I first met Sally through a shared interest: music. We were band buddies in high school; Sally was in the drum section, Sue played oboe, and I played flute. We spent many hours away from study hall in the band room, escaping the school routine with band trips to surrounding Iowa towns. In the last two years of high school, Sally and I formed a duo: I played a small guitar, she was on bongo drums, and we both sang folk songs.
We drifted apart, separated by time, distance, and the demands of family and career. Many years later, some friends gathered in Florida for a weekend of sun, sand, and friendship. We spent time walking the beach, watching sunsets, eating out, and sharing our lives with each other. I enjoyed Sally's lemonade pie and cold strawberry soup, and witnessed her eye for beauty in decorating a home. She used that eye for beauty recently to create a memory book for high school classmates; Sally handled the photos and layout, while I edited their words.
My friend never realized how beautiful she was, with her golden hair and broad smile. Her passing leaves me with a feeling of great loss, but I am also grateful that we had times together as adults, wives, mothers, and grandmothers. A part of Sally will always be with me.

I have so many happy memories of Sally. Sally , Tom, Matt and Eric are all part of my earliest childhood memories, but my most favorite memories of Sally was spending overnights on a cot in the kitchen of her NY cottage! Sally was always welcoming and I always felt like she really wanted me (and family) around. Sally would make homemade strawberry ice cream that we would have to eat real fast b/c the cottage in August wasn't exactly cool!
Sally has such a great laugh and and such a sparkle in her eyes! I have so many great memories of her and I will miss so much about her...... I could go on for days. Sally was just so fun to be around. It was not an accident that I made one of her wonderful sons a God parent to my daughter, I wanted to keep all of us close through the years. She was a real special person.
I love you "Aunt" Sally.

Family, please accept my deepest sympathy. Death indeed is our enemy and we look forward to the time the promises found at Isaiah 25:8, when death will be swallowed up forever and there will be no more tears, sorrow or pain. I can't wait.

Although you will miss your dear mother very much, take comfort in the promises of God concerning the hope of being reunited with her and living with her in a world without tears where sickness and death will be no more. (Revelation 21:4)

We didn't know Sally all that well, but she was giving us support regarding our work and problems, when she was the one needing support.
We wish we could have told her just how highly we thought of her. We are blessed to have had Tom and her helping us out.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies. My heart goes out to the family. Death is something we will never get use to. In fact, God's Word refers to death as an enemy. (1 Corinthians 15:26) It is comforting to know that very soon our loving Heavenly Father will remove death once and for all and give us the opportunity to see our loved ones again here on the earth.

We are deeply saddened by Sally's passing. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor. Linda and I watched and were humbled by the grace with which she took on and conquered life's challenges and the joy and pride with which she savored her sons' successes and her grandchildren. We will miss her greatly.
