Obituary of Lowell Vernon Sturgill

Lowell V. Sturgill Lowell V. Sturgill, 80, On May 30, 2014, Lowell Sturgill went to be with the Lord. Lowell was born in 1933 to Vernon and Lottie Sturgill. After growing up in West Virginia, he obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration and then a masters in economics from the University of Maryland. He served with the Air Force Reserves during the Korean War and spent his civilian career with the Department of Defense and the National Park Service, ending his government service as Chief of Operations for the Park Service's National Capital Region. He then established the business administration program for Welch College in Nashville, Tennessee and taught courses in that program. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and most recently a member of Potomac Falls Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Patty; children Lowell Jr. and Linda and their spouses, Caren and Ron; grandchildren Bradley, Brian, John, and Kristi; brothers James, William, and Keith; and sisters Karen, Patricia, Audrey, Martha, and Louella. His family and friends miss him greatly. A visitation will be held from 7-9pm on Friday June 6, 2014, at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon VA, 20170. A funeral service will take place at 9:00am on Saturday June 7, 2014, at Potomac Falls Baptist Church, 20747 Lowes Island Boulevard Potomac Falls, VA 20165. Interment will take place at Columbia Memorial Park in Claksville MD, at 2pm on Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Sturgill Family Business Department Scholarship of Welch College in Nashville TN.
