Anne F. Robertson
RESTON - Anne F. Robertson, 68, of Reston, and formerly of New York, NY, passed away at home on Sunday, June 22, 2014.
Anne was born in Dallas, TX and was the daughter of Thomas Littelle and Elisabeth Fentress Ferratt. She moved to Arlington, VA in 1959 and then to Norfolk where she was graduated from Maury High School in 1964. She received a B.A. degree from Hollins University. She later received M.A. and Ph. D. degrees from New York University in Ancient Near East Languages. Anne was the author of "Word dividers, spot markers and clause markers in old Assyrian, Ugaritic, and Egyptian texts" - Copyright 1983. It is generally considered the definitive work on punctuation systems in ancient Near East languages. She authored a number of articles on ancient Near Eastern languages and was editorial assistant to the author of the Jewish Publications Society's Leviticus and the Anchor Bible's edition of Numbers. She was an officer of the Egyptological Seminar of New York that published the scholarly "BES" Bulletin of the Egyptological Society.
For almost twenty years, she was a member of the chorus of the Oratorio Society of New York, and performed in Carnegie Hall, Vienna, and other European cities.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Therit Robertson, sister Elisabeth Ferratt Mullen, and sister Mary Ellen Ferratt Yoder and her husband, Rick. She is also survived by a cousin, Norman Charles Creech and his wife, Sue. Anne was a fun loving person who will be missed by all those around her.
