Obituary of Mary Patricia Richardson

Mary Patricia "Pat" Richardson, 82, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away June 30, 2014. She was born to the late John and Elizabeth Monaghan, May 11, 1932 in Washington, D.C. Pat graduated high school from Academy of Notre Dame and Trinity College, founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. In the early 1950's, she went to work for the CIA. There she met and married her former husband of 30 years, Richard James Richardson. They raised their family stateside as well as in Tokyo, Japan during a five-year assignment and Bangkok, Thailand during a two-year assignment. In 1963 the family moved to Sterling, VA, where Pat focused first on raising her six children, and then later returned to college to study tax accounting and open Callahan-Richardson Associated Tax Services. She served on the Loudoun County Planning Commission, in the PTA, as an election judge, and as treasurer on several local political campaigns. Following 30 years of operation, Pat closed the tax business in 2006 and moved to Fernandina Beach, FL. Pat loved to travel and toured a great swath of the globe. Her last trip was a Thanksgiving cruise to the Caribbean with family members. She enjoyed playing bridge socially. She was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and a sports enthusiast in general. She took great pride that all of her six children attended college. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Richard Richardson, Jr. She is survived by five children: Dr. John (Reba) Richardson of Fernandina Beach, FL; Craig (Valerie) Richardson of Ashburn, VA; Michael (Janice) Richardson of Bluemont, VA; Elizabeth (Eric) Wolter of Belvidere, IL; and Patrick Richardson of Washington, D. C. She is also survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA 20170. A private graveside service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barnabas Food Pantry of Fernandina Beach, FL or Loudoun Interfaith Relief of Leesburg, VA.
