Art was Branch Chief with a staff of 15 people. He placed a chalkboard in the outer office where he could write important messages to keep everyone informed. The first day it was up, Nilo Olin, his photographer and also a skilled cartoonist, drew a cartoon on it. Nilo worked the early shift and when Art arrived he looked at the cartoon, laughed, shook his head and went into his office. Every day a new cartoon appeared about the Parklawn Building, the people in it, current events and Buzzard Point. Others of the early shift contributed witty remarks for Nilo. Not once did Art get to write a message. People stopped by from other offices to view the cartoons. Years went by and Nilo retired. Art had a plaque made and placed it above the message board. It read: "The Nilo Olin Commemorative Board."

Art took my fitness classes at the JCCNV and always came in with a smile and a sense of humor. He had an amazing attitude on life and a kind heart. He will be greatly missed.

I have known Art for fifty years and I worked with him in various capacities for thirty of them. I never saw him do or say anything unkind. I'll remember his laugh and his wit most of all.
