Obituary of Douglass Sherwood Hutchison

Douglass "Sherwood" Hutchison, age 89 died at his home in Leesburg, Virginia of natural causes on July 24, 2014. Born on April 9, 1925 to Harry and Esther May Hutchison in Washington DC. He is survived by his wife, Angela, of 33 years. His brother Luther of Annapolis, MD. His five children Barbara Mazzella of Huntingtown, MD, Robert Hutchison of Conway, SC, Margaret Cannon of Lusby, MD, Sherry Watkins of Centreville, VA, Cathy Hutchison-Gordon of Brambleton, VA. He was the Grandfather to 16 Grandchildren and Great Grandfather to 16 Great Grandchildren. Let's not forget the Love he had for his Yorkie "Emma". He was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Kirkpatrick. Sherwood served in WWII with the Construction Battalion (Seabees) a division of the Navy, in the South Pacific. After the war, Sherwood and his brother, Luther, worked for their Uncle, Robert Hutchison, who owned Crane Service Co. Inc. Soon after, the brothers decided to use the money which they had saved while in the Navy to buy their first dump truck, which became the nucleus for a fleet of trucks giving birth to Hutchison Brothers Trucking and Hutchison Brothers Excavation. They later purchased Crane Service from their Uncle Robert. Crane Service is still a family owned business today. Sherwood lived life, loved life and loved people. He also Loved America and the servicemen who protect our country every day.
