Obituary of Jennifer Aileen Mills

Jennifer Aileen Mills (Age 45) Post surgery, Jennifer developed pulmonary emboli which resulted in cardiac arrest and she died on Thursday July 31, 2014 at the Reston Hospital Center. She was born in Silvis, Illinois, (five minutes ahead of her twin sister, Jessica), and was raised near various U.S. Army posts in Illinois, Thailand, New Jersey and Virginia. She received her Baccalaureate and Masters Degrees from George Mason University. She joined the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), serving her nation with pride as a program director for Customs and Boarder Protection (CBP). This collector of friends loved traveling the world with her sister and had great passion for humanitarian service. Jennifer served as a dedicated volunteer with Helping Children Worldwide, traveling to Sierra Leone, Africa, four times over the past four years. In Sierra Leone the children of the Child Rescue Centre (CRC) adored her and looked forward to her visits. She had the trust and respect of all the CRC and Mercy Hospital staff whom she worked alongside for countless hours. She actively supported the Helping Children Worldwide fight against child trafficking. With her brilliant blue eyes and radiant smile, she served meals to the homeless in Northern Virginia and always carried granola bars to give to the homeless on her daily commutes into the District of Columbia. She is survived by her parents David and Julie Mills of Dumfries, her sister Jessica Mills and brother-in-law Jeremy Migliara, and her nephew and niece Nicholas and Gabrielle Migliara all of Reston, plus a host of family and friends whom she dearly loved. She was a member of the Floris United Methodist Church, 13600 Frying Pan Rd, Herndon, Va , where a "Celebration of Life" will be held in her honor at 1:00 p.m on Wednesday August 6, 2014.
