Obituary of Gilbert Charles Stoessel
Please share a memory of Gilbert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Friday, August 1, 2014, Gilbert Charles Stoessel, loving husband, father, and grandfather, departed this world and began his joyous journey of eternal life.
Those fortunate enough to have known Gilbert will remember him as a kind, caring man who never put himself ahead of the needs of his family and friends.
Born in France, his family resided in Buffalo, NY and remained there with his brother Roger and sister Madeline throughout his youth. As a young man, Gilbert volunteered to serve his country during World War II and courageously flew 35 missions over Europe, thus establishing his membership in the prestigious "Lucky Bastards Club". Following his return from Europe, Gilbert received his college degree from Georgetown University, and eventually his career brought him to Puerto Rico, where he met his future wife, Marta. Gilbert and Marta made Sterling Park their home in 1972, and he was an active member of the Christ the Redeemer parish.
Son of Charles and Marie Stoessel, loyal and loving husband of 51 years to Marta Delia, he is survived by his three sons: Charles, Pete, and Gilbert, Jr.; his daughters in law Stepheny and Kendrea; and his four beautiful grandchildren Alexander, Sean, Jordyn, and Charlotte.
