I had the privilege of growing up in the Shepherd Park section of DC in the 1950s' and 60's. Among the people I got to know well in the neighborhood were the Gilberts, Chip, Bill and their parents. While Chip was a classmate and one of my closest friends, I was blessed by being Bill;s friend also. While we left the DC area in the early 1970's my wife, Margie, and I haven't forgotten the friends we made while living there. We were very sorry to learn of Bill's passing and would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to his immediate family and all of the Gilberts. Margie and Paul Turner Las Vegas, Nevada

I was sorry to hear about Bill. As a young officer, I worked daily with Bill in the same office. Bill taught me to calmly view my work and arrive at conclusions that were factual, not emotional. His great sense of humor and quick wit made even the most taxing day more bearable. I will remember him always as a mentor and friend. Bless his memory.

Dear Francine, Cassie and Jim, I am so sorry to hear of Bill's struggle with cancer. There are no words that will help you recover from this loss. The only peace I had when I lost my dad to cancer was that he was now free of it and he was my very special angel watching over and protecting me and my family.
